Non-operative treatment is considered first where appropriate and may include physiotherapy, activity modification, medication, injections or observation. Surgical treatment may be discussed when symptoms persist despite conservative management, when investigations suggest it is appropriate, or when a patient’s goals are unlikely to be achieved without intervention.
